Two young men have reportedly died following a suspected chemical leak inside a public toilet in Mumbai’s Ram Mandir East area. The two victims were reportedly aged 18 and 24. The incident caused panic in the area, after which teams from several government agencies reached the spot.

Panic After Strong Chemical Smell

The incident reportedly took place at a public toilet located near Mrinaltai Bridge, opposite Parsi Panchayat Gate in the Ram Mandir East area. According to preliminary information, local residents informed the administration after a strong chemical smell was noticed inside the toilet and the two young men were reportedly found suffering from breathing difficulties.

After information was received at around 8:30 am on September 27, 2026, teams from the BMC Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, 108 ambulance service, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and the concerned BMC ward reached the location.

Young Men Die After Being Taken to Hospital

According to preliminary information, both affected men were immediately taken to a trauma care hospital for treatment. However, they could not be saved.

Following the incident, the administration assessed the situation in the area. The concerned agencies are investigating to determine the nature and source of the suspected chemical.
