Jamshedpur: A Chatra connection has emerged in the investigation into the robbery at Canara Bank in Golmuri. Chatra Police have detained four people in the case. Two of them are being considered suspects based on their alleged contact with the robbery accused, while the role of the other two is being investigated.

All Four Are Connected to Disneyland Fair

According to the police, all four people detained work at the Disneyland fair set up near Chatra Sadar police station area. The same fair was also organised in Jamshedpur a few days ago.

During the investigation, police allegedly received information that these people had contacts with the robbery accused in Jamshedpur and had stayed at the same lodge. Following this, Chatra Police detained all four late at night and began questioning them.

Based on inputs received during questioning, the suspects have been handed over to Jamshedpur Police for further investigation.

Accused Identified Through CCTV Footage

According to police sources, the accused involved in the robbery have been identified on the basis of an examination of CCTV footage. One of them is reportedly a resident of Number 10 Basti in Sidgora, while another is a resident of Ghatshila.

Police have also learned that the Ghatshila resident had earlier worked for a courier company. It has been claimed that the investigation found that he had conducted a recce of the bank while working at the courier company and that the robbery was later carried out.

Police are also investigating the identities and roles of other accused in the case. The police may reveal the case after the investigation is completed.

Bank Was Robbed in Broad Daylight

It may be recalled that armed criminals robbed the Canara Bank in Golmuri in broad daylight on Thursday. According to police, five criminals wearing raincoats arrived during heavy rain and held bank employees hostage at gunpoint.

It was reported that within around one hour, the criminals looted 600 packets containing around 23 kilograms of gold and ₹43 lakh in cash kept in the bank’s iron chest and safe. Since the incident, several police teams have been investigating the case and attempting to reach the accused on the basis of CCTV footage and other clues.
