A tribute programme was organized at the Kumir Panchayat Bhawan in Patamda block on the occasion of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary. Those present paid floral tribute to Bhagat Singh’s portrait and remembered his contribution to the country.

Following the programme, a tree plantation campaign was conducted in the area with a message of environmental conservation. Under the campaign, trees were planted at two tribal high schools in Bangurda and at the Kamalpur police station premises. The programme was led by JLKM district secretary Rajesh Kumbhkar.

Headmaster Sujit Kumar Seth was present during the plantation programme at the tribal high schools in Bangurda. Various plants were planted on the school premises and a message of environmental awareness was given.

After this, plantation was also carried out at the Kamalpur police station premises. Sub-Inspector Purushottam Rai and others participated in the programme. Those present pledged to take care of and protect the planted trees.

Rajesh Kumbhkar said the life of Bhagat Singh inspires patriotism, courage and social responsibility. He said combining a tribute with tree plantation on his birth anniversary conveys a message of responsibility towards the environment and society.

Local residents and representatives of the concerned institutions participated in the programme. The organizers said that along with plantation, attention would also be given to the regular care of the planted trees so that the objective of the campaign could be effectively achieved.
