Chief Minister Champai Soren openly declared, “I am Hemant Soren Part 2,” in the midst of the Jharkhand floor test issue. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using central agencies to plan a campaign against former chief minister Hemant Soren. During the assembly’s floor test argument, Champai Soren, who took office last week, strongly backed Hemant Soren. She claimed that Hemant Soren is unfairly treated throughout the nation and that his initiatives are felt in every community.

The 67-year-old statesman boldly identified himself with Hemant Soren amid the political unrest, emphasising the BJP’s purported attempts to topple the Jharkhand government that was lawfully elected. The floor test, which was vital for the coalition government led by Champai Soren, moved forward confidently with the backing of forty-three MLAs from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Congress, RJD, and CPI (ML) alliance.

Hemant Soren, presently in five-day Enforcement Directorate custody due to a money laundering probe, was permitted to attend the proceedings. The ED accuses him of benefiting from alleged land-related irregularities in Ranchi, involving fake deeds and forged records. The political landscape in Jharkhand remains tense as the coalition government faces the challenges of proving its majority amidst the backdrop of these allegations and counter-accusations.
