Jamshedpur: Panic broke out near a gurudwara in Golmuri on Monday evening when two youths allegedly assaulted Avinash Kumar, a resident of Telco Premnagar Road No. 2, and looted his gold chain, bracelet and Rs 26,000. Following the incident, the victim submitted a written complaint at Golmuri police station on Tuesday seeking action. Police have started investigating the matter.

According to Avinash Kumar, he had reached near Golmuri Gurudwara at around 7:15 pm on Monday to pick up his son from tuition. During this time, two youths arrived and allegedly started forcibly putting their hands into his pocket. When Avinash objected, the two youths allegedly started scuffling with him.

It is alleged that during the assault, the two youths took Rs 26,000 from his pocket. Apart from this, the accused allegedly snatched a gold chain from his neck and a bracelet from his hand. After the incident, both youths fled the spot.

The victim reached Golmuri police station on Tuesday, informed the police about the entire incident and submitted a written complaint. Based on the complaint, police have started investigating the case. Police are examining CCTV camera footage installed around the incident site and attempting to identify the accused.

The incident, which took place during the evening in a busy area like Golmuri, has also raised questions about the safety of local residents. It will become clear after the police investigation how soon the two accused involved in the incident are identified and whether the looted items can be recovered.

Police investigation is underway and the arrest of the accused has not yet been confirmed.
