Kohima: A young mountaineer from Telangana has achieved another significant milestone in his ‘Tricolour on Every Peak’ campaign by hoisting the Tricolour atop Mount Saramati, the highest peak in Nagaland. After completing the climb of the 3,841-metre Mount Saramati, he has also completed his campaign of taking the national flag to the highest peaks of the seven northeastern states, known as the ‘Seven Sisters’.

Tricolour Taken to the Highest Peaks of 11 States

Bhukya Yashwant, a resident of Bhukya Thanda village in Telangana’s Mahabubabad district, achieved this feat by reaching the summit of Mount Saramati on September 20. With this, he has so far hoisted the Tricolour on the highest peaks of 11 states in the country.

These include Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura, along with Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Goa.

Goal of Reaching the Highest Peaks of All 28 States

Speaking to PTI, Yashwant said that he started this campaign out of his passion for mountaineering and with the objective of documenting the highest peaks of all 28 states of India.

He said his goal is not limited to reaching the country’s famous high mountain peaks. Instead, he wants to reach the highest peaks of different states and document their geographical and mountainous diversity.

Chapter Covering All Seven Northeastern States Completed

With the climb of Mount Saramati, Yashwant has completed his phase of reaching the highest peaks of the seven states of Northeast India. His campaign is now continuing towards the highest peaks of other states in the country.

His ‘Tricolour on Every Peak’ campaign is focused on exploring different geographical regions of the country along with mountaineering and documenting their highest peaks.
