Jamshedpur: Thieves targeted a locked house in Jawahar Nagar under Mango police station on Sunday evening and allegedly carried out the theft in just around 15 minutes. The thieves fled with ₹20,000 in cash, gold jewellery and two mobile phones. The incident reportedly took place at Meena Campus opposite Jawahar Nagar Nature Park. The victim, Mohammad Rais, has filed a written complaint at Mango police station.

Went for prayers, returned to find the door open

According to the information, Mohammad Rais locked his house at around 6 pm on Sunday and went to a nearby mosque to offer prayers. When he returned around 15 minutes later, he found the main door of the house open. Suspecting a theft, he entered the house and found household items scattered around and the locks of the cupboards broken.

During a check, he found that ₹20,000 in cash, gold jewellery and one Motorola and one Jio mobile phone kept inside the cupboard were missing.

After informing the police, the victim reached the police station and submitted a written complaint. Police have started investigating the case.

CCTV footage from cameras installed in the surrounding area may be examined to identify the suspects. However, the route used by the thieves to enter the house and the number of people involved will become clear only after the investigation.

The theft, which was carried out within a few minutes, has also raised concerns about security arrangements in the area. Police are investigating all aspects of the case.
