Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar on Monday rejected speculation about his party merging with any other organisation. He made it clear that NCP (Sharad Pawar) would not merge with another organisation to gain power. Pawar said the party’s primary focus for now would remain on strengthening the organisation.

Addressing a gathering of party workers in Mumbai, Sharad Pawar said there had been speculation in political circles that NCP (Sharad Pawar) could join forces with those currently in power. Amid these discussions, he clarified the party’s direction and said the organisation would focus on maintaining its independent political identity and strengthening itself.

Pawar called on party workers to focus on strengthening the organisation and expanding the party’s base. He said that under the current circumstances, organisational work was important for the party.

Following the split in the NCP, political differences have continued in Maharashtra between the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) led by Sharad Pawar and the faction led by Ajit Pawar. Against this backdrop, different political speculations about the future of the two factions have emerged from time to time.

Pawar’s latest statement is being seen as an attempt to put a pause on the ongoing discussions about a possible merger. While addressing party workers, he made the party’s priority clear and stressed the need to strengthen the organisation.

Pawar said the party would focus on strengthening its organisational structure and moving forward with its workers rather than focusing on the politics of gaining power.
