Gopalganj, September 25, 2026: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) workers staged a protest in Bihar’s Gopalganj on Friday over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. After taking out a protest march through the city, party workers burnt an effigy of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The protest was reported by local media.

According to reports, RJD workers reached Mounia Chowk after passing through various parts of the city. There, the workers raised objections to the SIR process, raised slogans and burnt an effigy of the Chief Election Commissioner. Party leaders and workers questioned the process of the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls.

RJD leaders said that voters should be provided adequate information and an opportunity to participate in any revision process related to electoral rolls. The party alleged that people have several concerns regarding SIR. Leaders demanded that the administration and election authorities provide clear information about the process.

Political activity increased briefly at Mounia Chowk during the protest. Police were also present locally in view of the programme to prevent any untoward incident. After the protest ended, the workers left the area.

RJD leaders said the party would continue to raise its voice over the SIR issue. At the same time, allegations and political claims related to the electoral process need to be considered alongside official clarifications from the concerned parties.

The Gopalganj protest is part of a series of demonstrations being organised by the RJD over the SIR process in Bihar. The party has held protests and other programmes on the issue at various locations.

No major untoward incident was reported during the protest in Gopalganj. The administration monitored the situation and the programme concluded peacefully.
