Saharsa, September 26, 2026: The flood situation has worsened in several villages located between the embankments in Bihar’s Saharsa district after continuous rainfall in Nepal caused the water level of the Kosi River to rise. In several areas, floodwater has entered people’s homes and kitchens, creating difficulties related to food, drinking water and fodder for livestock.
As water levels continue to rise in villages between the embankments, residents are facing increasing difficulties. Roads and connecting routes have been submerged at several locations, disrupting normal movement. Villagers are relying on boats to bring essential supplies. The strong flow of water has also raised concerns about the safety of elderly people, children and women.
The impact of the flooding is clearly visible in the daily lives of villagers. As water has entered several homes, families are trying to move household items and grain to safer locations. Some families are also facing difficulties cooking food. Livestock owners, meanwhile, are struggling to arrange dry fodder for their animals.
Local residents said the situation could become more serious if the water level continues to rise at the same pace. Villagers have urged the administration to ensure adequate arrangements for boats, food, drinking water and animal fodder.
The administration is monitoring the affected areas. People have been advised to stay away from waterlogged areas and locations with strong currents and move to safe, elevated places if necessary. Relief and rescue teams have also been kept on alert.
The administration said the situation is being monitored continuously and relief and rescue operations will be undertaken as required. Villagers have been urged not to pay attention to rumours and to contact the local administration in case of an emergency.
The rising Kosi water level has once again increased the difficulties faced by villages located between the embankments. Residents are now closely watching the river level and the administration’s relief arrangements.
