Pune. Security arrangements have been strengthened across Pune ahead of Ganesh idol immersion. Police have made extensive preparations to maintain law and order during the immersion programmes across the city. According to officials, around 10,000 police personnel have been deployed for security duties.

With a large number of devotees expected to take to the streets during the immersion, additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas and along major routes. Special attention will be given to crowd management as well as traffic arrangements.

Technology has also been integrated into the security arrangements. Police have made provisions to use AI-based video analytics and facial recognition technology. These technologies are planned to assist in monitoring activities in crowded areas and identifying suspicious activity.

Surveillance has been increased along major immersion routes, at intersections and in crowded locations. In addition to police personnel, CCTV cameras and other security resources will also be used to monitor the situation.

The administration has appealed to people to follow the guidelines issued by the police and administration during the immersion. Officials said that ensuring the convenience of devotees while conducting the immersion programme in a safe and orderly manner is a priority.

Arrangements have also been made to maintain coordination among the concerned departments to deal with any emergency situation during the Ganesh immersion.
