The political atmosphere has heated up in Rajasthan ahead of the Kuchera municipal president election. Rajasthan Congress has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of allegedly misusing the police and administration. The Congress has claimed that government machinery is being used to put pressure on its councillors in Kuchera in Nagaur district.

Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Govind Singh Dotasara and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Tika Ram Jully targeted the BJP government on Friday. Congress leaders alleged that attempts were being made to influence and put pressure on Congress councillors ahead of the municipal president election.

Dotasara alleged that Kuchera had been turned into a police cantonment. He described this as interference in the democratic process and strongly criticised the BJP government. Dotasara said that the BJP was using the police and administration to “loot” democracy.

Congress leaders claimed that the increased police and administrative activity ahead of the election was creating a situation of pressure on councillors. The party described this as being against democratic norms and demanded that the government conduct the election in a fair manner.

However, no detailed immediate response from the BJP government or the concerned administration to these allegations has come to light. Therefore, the allegations have not been independently confirmed.

The Kuchera municipal president election has now become a topic of discussion not only in local politics but also in state politics.
