Monday’s competition proved to be a day of highs and lows for Indian shooting. In the women’s 25m pistol individual event, Isha Singh won the silver medal, while Manu Bhaker missed out on a medal.
For Isha, the contest remained thrilling until the final shot. One missed shot cost her the opportunity to win gold, but she did not give up.
Amid pain, fatigue and mounting pressure, the competition became so close that the medal had to be decided after five shoot-offs. The tension increased with every shoot-off, but Isha maintained her composure and eventually secured the silver medal.
Meanwhile, Indian shooter Manu Bhaker could not win a medal in the event. As a result, India secured silver through Isha’s determined comeback in the same competition, while it was a disappointing day for Manu.
The most notable aspect of Isha’s performance was not just the medal but the mental strength that helped her withstand the pressure of five consecutive shoot-offs.
Gold slipped away by a single shot, but after five shoot-offs, Isha showed that the courage to stay focused under pressure can remain intact.
