New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has scheduled the next hearing for November 16, 2026, in a criminal contempt case involving former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and others. The case relates to allegedly objectionable social media posts concerning Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma and the image of the judiciary.

On Monday, a bench comprising Justice Navin Chawla and Justice Arun Bhardwaj granted Kejriwal and the other accused time to file their responses. Senior counsel appearing for Kejriwal told the court that all documents and material forming the basis of the case had not yet been made available to them.

The bench subsequently directed the registry to provide the incomplete material and granted four weeks to file responses.

The case began in May 2026. Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma had initiated criminal contempt proceedings against Kejriwal, Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and several other leaders over alleged comments and social media posts made in connection with proceedings related to the Delhi liquor policy case.

The names of Durgesh Pathak, Saurabh Bhardwaj and Vinay Mishra are also included in the matter.

According to court records, the social media posts allegedly raised questions about the judge’s impartiality and the judicial process and allegedly presented material related to court proceedings in a misleading manner.

However, responses from the leaders involved and further judicial consideration in the contempt proceedings are still pending.

Separately, another contempt petition filed by advocate Ashok Chaitanya is also scheduled for hearing on November 16. That petition alleges the involvement of Kejriwal, AAP leader Gopal Rai, journalist Saurav Das and others in an alleged social media campaign.

No final judicial finding has yet been made on those allegations.

The next hearing on November 16 will consider the responses and material related to the cases before deciding the further course of proceedings.
