Amid the ongoing political debate over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, some alliance partners of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have sought clear information from the Election Commission on questions related to the process. The allies have asked the commission to clarify issues being raised regarding changes to voter lists and the verification process.

According to reports, leaders of the alliance partners have sought information about the procedure being followed during the revision of electoral rolls, verification of documents and the opportunities available to voters. They said voters should receive clear information about the process and the required documents so that eligible voters do not face difficulties.

Under SIR, names and other details recorded in the electoral roll are being examined. If any discrepancy is found in a record, the concerned voter may be asked to provide documents or clarification. Different political parties have been expressing concerns over this process.

The demand for clarification from NDA allies comes at a time when opposition parties are questioning the functioning of the Election Commission over SIR. Congress and some other opposition parties have also held protests on the issue.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has repeatedly stated that the revision of electoral rolls is being conducted under the prescribed legal process. According to the commission, ensuring the inclusion of eligible voters and keeping electoral rolls updated are key objectives of the revision process.
