Indore: The Madhya Pradesh government honoured music director Shantanu Moitra with the National Lata Mangeshkar Award 2026 for his notable contribution to the field of Sugam Sangeet. The award ceremony was held in Indore on Monday. Indore is the birthplace of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.
The ceremony was organised on the occasion of Lata Mangeshkar’s 97th birth anniversary. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav participated in the programme through video conference.
Lata Mangeshkar Remembered
During the ceremony, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav remembered Lata Mangeshkar and said that her songs reflected every shade of life. He said that her songs expressed emotions such as devotion to God, patriotism, friendship, joy, love and separation.
Honoured for Contribution to Sugam Sangeet
Shantanu Moitra was given the award for his contribution to the field of Sugam Sangeet. As a music director, he has established a distinct identity for himself in the Indian music industry.
The National Lata Mangeshkar Award is presented by the Madhya Pradesh government to artists who make notable contributions to the field of music. The honour is named after legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.
