Jamshedpur: A van carrying Chinmaya School children met with a major accident on Friday on Bhuvaneshwari Temple Road. Between 15 and 17 children are reported to have been injured in the accident, with two of them said to be in critical condition. The van driver also suffered serious injuries. With the help of local residents, all the injured were taken to Tata Motors Hospital for treatment.

Van Carrying Children Climbed Onto Divider

According to eyewitnesses, the Chinmaya School van was taking children towards the stadium. During this time, the van suddenly went out of control near N-111 on Bhuvaneshwari Temple Road and climbed onto the divider in the middle of the road.

The collision was so severe that even the van’s chamber was damaged. The sound of the accident was heard like a blast by people living nearby. Hearing the noise, residents of nearby flats immediately rushed to the spot.

Accident While Trying to Avoid a Car?

According to locals, a car appeared in front of the van moments before the accident. The car passed extremely close to the van. Eyewitnesses claim that after avoiding the car, the driver tried to look back, during which the van lost balance.

However, the actual cause of the accident has not yet been officially confirmed. The exact reason will be known only after the investigation is completed.

Children Screamed After the Crash

After the strong impact, children inside the van began screaming. Several children were shaken by the accident. Local residents who reached the spot immediately began rescue efforts and pulled the children out of the van.

The injured children and the driver were immediately taken to hospital. The two seriously injured children and the driver are undergoing treatment under the supervision of doctors.
