The Election Commission has extended the period for filing claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra, providing additional time to citizens. Eligible voters can now submit claims or objections regarding their names, details or other matters related to the electoral roll until October 12, 2026.

The extension will provide an additional opportunity to people who were unable to submit their documents within the prescribed period or who want to seek corrections after checking the information recorded in the electoral roll. As part of the revision process, voter records are being examined and verified by the commission.

During the SIR process, voters’ names, addresses and other related details are being matched. If a voter notices an error in their record or believes that their name or details have not been correctly recorded, they can file a claim or objection through the prescribed process.

Officials are also making the necessary preparations to complete the process. Booth-level contact with voters and verification of documents are being carried out. Following the extension, concerned officials will also have additional time to process claims and objections.

The Election Commission’s exercise aims to make the electoral roll more organized and updated. After examining the claims and objections received during the process, necessary changes will be made to the records of eligible voters.

Voters are advised to check their names and other details within the prescribed period. In case of any issue, an application can be submitted through the concerned election office or the designated procedure.

October 12 has now become the important new deadline. Claims and objections received after this date will be dealt with according to the prescribed rules. The next stages of the SIR process in Maharashtra will proceed under the revised schedule.
