Jamshedpur: Jharkhand’s political scene is set to heat up again over the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2026. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has announced a strong protest against the law. According to the party’s East Singhbhum district committee, a major demonstration will be held at all block headquarters in the district on Saturday, September 19.

The main focus will be on the protest at the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) office in Sakchi. The party has claimed that preparations for the demonstration have been completed and that a large number of workers are expected to gather.

Workers to Take to Streets With Drums

According to JMM leaders, workers will participate in the protest with traditional music, drums and नगाड़े. The party alleges that the amended law affects Jharkhand’s mineral resources and the interests of the state. District president Victor Soren has appealed to workers to participate in large numbers. The party has planned to activate its organisation from block level to municipal and panchayat levels.

What Will Happen in Jamshedpur Tomorrow?

Following JMM’s announcement, attention is now on how the protest will take shape on September 19 at Sakchi and block headquarters across the district. The party is preparing to make it a major show of strength.

Meanwhile, the central government says the objective of the MMDR amendment is to strengthen the mining sector’s financial stability and investment framework and address the growing demand for critical minerals.
