Los Angeles. Veteran Hollywood actor J.K. Simmons is set to appear in Apple TV’s upcoming drama series ‘Beat the Reaper’. The series will see him share the screen with actor Will Poulter. The show is based on Josh Bazell’s popular novel of the same name.

‘Beat the Reaper’ follows Brown, a medical intern working at one of the worst hospitals in Boston. Brown is highly talented in the field of medicine, but he has a dangerous past that he wants to keep hidden from the world.

The story takes a major turn when a patient who arrives at the hospital for treatment recognises Brown from his former life. Brown is then faced with the challenge of staying alive while trying to escape the consequences of his past.

According to the story, Brown has just eight hours to survive while trying to evade government agencies, mafia hitmen and suspicious surgeons. During this time, a series of gangster deaths begins around him, making the story increasingly suspenseful.

The series is being written and produced by showrunner and executive producer Sam Catlin. J.K. Simmons’ addition to the cast has further increased interest in the highly anticipated project.
