Jamshedpur: The district administration has intensified action against illegal mining, illegal transportation and storage of minerals in the district. As part of this drive, a team from the District Mining Office conducted an inspection campaign in the Kowali police station area of Potka block and seized a Hyva loaded with sand. During the inspection of the vehicle, around 500 CFT of sand was found loaded in it.

According to information, on the instructions of Jamshedpur Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan, the Mining Task Force has been conducting continuous inspection campaigns in various areas of the district. During the campaign, vehicles transporting minerals are being checked. Action is being taken against the concerned vehicles as per the rules when valid documents are not found.

As part of this campaign, the District Mining Office team was checking vehicles in the Kowali police station area. During this, the team stopped and inspected a Hyva. A large quantity of sand was loaded on the Hyva. The inspection found around 500 CFT of sand.

The Mining Department team asked the vehicle driver to produce the necessary documents related to the transportation of the sand. However, the driver could not provide valid documents related to the transportation of the sand during the inspection. Following this, the departmental team seized the Hyva and the sand loaded in it.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the sand loaded in the Hyva was being brought from Odisha. However, as valid documents related to its transportation were not available, the department has initiated action in the matter as per the rules.

The district administration said that inspection campaigns will continue to effectively control illegal extraction, transportation and storage of mineral resources in the district. Monitoring of the illegal sand trade has been increased in particular, and action is being taken against vehicles violating the rules.
