Madurai. Senior All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader R.B. Udhayakumar has launched a political attack on Tamil Nadu minister Aadhav Arjuna. He alleged that the minister was acting with “political arrogance” and attempting to divert public attention from issues related to law and order and dengue in the state.

Addressing a public meeting, Udhayakumar also targeted the political discussion surrounding the possible prime ministerial face in the TVK-Congress context. He claimed that the debate involving Vijay or Rahul Gandhi was a “planned” attempt to divert attention from other important issues before the public. Udhayakumar made these allegations during his political address.

Udhayakumar referred to dengue cases and the law-and-order situation in the state and called on the government to focus on these issues. He claimed that 253 people had been affected by dengue in Tamil Nadu in a single day and that eight murder incidents had occurred across the state within 24 hours, including three in Madurai. These figures were cited by him during his speech.

The AIADMK leader also questioned Aadhav Arjuna’s recent political statements and accused him of making remarks concerning AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami. He also made several claims regarding the minister’s political journey during his address.

Aadhav Arjuna, meanwhile, has recently been active in TVK political programmes. At an event in Madurantakam, he also spoke about Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s priorities and issues related to the livelihood of the fishing community.

Amid political activity involving TVK and its allied parties in Tamil Nadu, continued statements from AIADMK leaders reflect increased political activity ahead of the upcoming by-elections.
