Chatra, September 18: A case has come to light in Jharkhand’s Chatra district involving the alleged abduction, gang rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl. Police have arrested two youths in connection with the case. The two accused are reported to be 19 and 22 years old.

According to police, the incident took place on the night of September 14 in a village under Kunda police station, during a programme organised on the occasion of Teej. Loud music was playing at the event and people were busy dancing and celebrating. During this time, the accused allegedly abducted the girl from the spot.

Allegedly Taken to an Isolated Place

According to police, the girl was taken to an isolated location in the Tetartand area, where the accused allegedly gang-raped her. They are also accused of strangling her to death with her own dupatta.

The next morning, the girl’s body was found in bushes, following which police began investigating the case.

Two Accused Arrested

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Sunil Kumar Singh said that two accused were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the case. According to police, during questioning, both allegedly admitted their involvement in the crime. However, the allegations and statements will be subject to final confirmation through the judicial process.

Police claim to have recovered a red torch, hairpin, clothes of the accused and a mobile phone based on information provided by the accused.

Case Registered Under BNS and POCSO

An FIR has been registered at Kunda police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
