Addressing the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India remains in constant communication with countries in the Gulf region amid evolving geopolitical and economic developments.

Speaking during a discussion in Parliament, Modi emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the situation and engaging diplomatically to safeguard India’s strategic and economic interests. He reassured members that Indian authorities are maintaining active coordination with key partners across the Gulf.

“India is in continuous contact with all Gulf countries,” the Prime Minister said, underlining the importance of the region for energy security, trade, and the welfare of millions of Indians living and working there.

He also highlighted that Indian missions abroad are on alert and prepared to assist citizens if required. The government, he noted, has established mechanisms to respond swiftly to any emerging challenges affecting the Indian diaspora.

The statement comes amid heightened global attention on developments in the Gulf, with concerns ranging from regional security to energy supply stability. India, being one of the largest importers of crude oil, maintains strong ties with major Gulf nations including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.

Opposition members sought clarity on contingency plans for evacuations and energy diversification. In response, the Prime Minister reiterated that the government is fully prepared and has handled similar situations effectively in the past.

He concluded by assuring the House that protecting Indian citizens abroad and ensuring national energy security remain top priorities for the government.
